We’re stepping away from our long-established (ha) format for the week: Sara drew and painted this page entirely in the real world. Typically, she does the linework and I scan it in. Then she does watercolor washes and patterns separately, which I scan, cut up and squeeze into the lines. It’s fun, and it will be back next week.
Over at our blog, we’ve got a post up about some of the background art in previous pages. Check it out.

Hey, did you see the bonus comic from Sunday? We’re going to start posting B&W strips once or twice a week now, so check in again on Friday for more.
Sara just noticed that she’s been drawing the yuppy-ish lady in a short-sleeved jogging outfit, while everyone else is obviously dressed for the cold. Oops. Let’s just pretend that the events are taking place in the early spring. It was freezing raining in the morning; as the day wears on, it warms up a little. In such conditions, people often tend to under-dress out of optimism. Maybe that’s why she’s being so crabby.
